My very natural thinking pose. 😊

We got our line edits for EXILES a tad early. Line edits are the last major revisions for a book before it heads to copyedits and then the production of advanced readers copies when people will actually get to read & hold our book for the first time 😵😵😵

Line edits are true to its name. Our editor literally goes line by line to give thoughts, questions, but mostly ✂️✂️✂️. We very lovingly call our editor @brasswax Jason Scissorhands. 🖤🖤

EXILES is really starting to feel like a real book and we couldn’t be more excited!!

Finally looking beyond the finish line like 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀😭🤯🤗 Send warrior vibes and lots of virtual teas pls 👊🏻☕️

How’s our developmental edit going? Well, we’re hanging in there 😉😜((kinda wishing we were back here in Rainier NP))

We always love to watch extreme competition shows when we edit bc watching people go through really hard things while we’re on deadline is extremely cathartic. We’ve been watching Alone this time, a survival show that puts 10 people in the brutal Arctic and whoever can last 100 days wins a million dollars. Mentally we feel like we’re in the Arctic in our cave…will we last our 30 days? Stay tuned 😂

*Deep breath* Time to dive into revisions for Exiles! Got our edit letter today, which is always both daunting and exhilarating. It can be painful to read, but after we’ve absorbed the notes, the feelings always turn to excitement knowing the book can only get better from here! *long exhale*

Off to the writer’s cave! 🦇🦇

Sometimes it feels like the only thing that gets us through the day is Yerba mate 🧉😂 We call it liquid gold.

We actually don’t drink coffee and never had tea until two years after college when we were writing the screenplay version of The Rule of One and had to stay awake for those late night sessions 🦉Now we can’t go a day without our Yerba 🙃 (we normally brew our own, bottles for on the go)

What’s a wolf without her pack? 🐺 ...

Coming up with titles is… hard. It’s not our strong suit. Some writers know their title before they even type their first words. We submitted and queried The Rule of One with the title A Living Rebellion. That was a big N.O. from our publisher once we sold 😂. All of our short and feature screenplay titles were very basic like, ‘oh, this story is about a pond so let’s call it The Pond’ level basic. We’re starting work on Exiles’ sequel now, back at the title-less drawing table. Exiles is the only title that’s ever come to us easily, we pitched with it, but coming up with its sequel name is difficult bc it needs to be a companion, a fraternal twin, to the first book.

Think we’re going to try to spend a lot more time at the ocean for inspiration, which is where one of our characters lives, hoping she’ll whisper to us through the soothing waves of the Pacific 🌊🙏🏻
